Wispr Flow Launches Android App for AI-Powered Dictation
Wispr Flow, a startup specializing in AI-powered dictation, has officially released its Android application. This launch follows the company's earlier releases for Mac and Windows, and subsequently for iOS in June 2025.
While the iOS version utilized a dedicated keyboard for interaction, the Android app offers a different user interface. Users can access the dictation feature through a floating bubble. This bubble can be held to dictate or tapped once to begin, with a close button to end the process. Similar to its other platform offerings, the app not only handles dictation but also intelligently filters out filler words and formats the text contextually based on the application being used and the spoken content.
"Android finally gave us the freedom to build the voice experience we always wanted. Only when the platform gets out of the way can we truly expect voice to replace typing on mobile," stated Tanay Kothari, co-founder and CEO of Wispr Flow.
The application boasts support for over 100 languages and can function seamlessly across various other apps. Alongside the Android app's release, Wispr Flow announced a significant infrastructure overhaul that reportedly makes dictation 30% faster than before.
While many AI-powered dictation apps are readily available on desktop and iOS, Wispr Flow's arrival marks it as one of the few options on Android, alongside Typeless, which debuted its platform app last month.
Furthermore, the company has introduced a new model specifically for Hinglish, a blend of Hindi and English, catering to users in India who naturally converse using code-mixed language.
Kothari elaborated on the new Hinglish model, saying, "If you're someone like me, English and Hindi weave together when I'm chatting with family and colleagues back home. This is one of those times when I just had to build something for me: the first voice model to actually support transcription in Hinglish instead of traditional Hindi script."
Early user feedback has been promising, with Wispr Flow reporting that users have dictated over 1.3 million words in English in just the past few days.
Wispr Flow has garnered considerable attention in the AI dictation space, attracting significant venture capital. In June, the startup secured $30 million in funding led by Menlo Ventures. This was followed by another $25 million in November, led by Notable Capital. To date, Wispr Flow has raised a total of $81 million, with its most recent funding round valuing the company at $700 million, according to sources.
