Ron Conway Shares Cancer Diagnosis, Vows Continued Support
Longtime venture capitalist Ron Conway recently announced that he has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. In a public statement, Conway shared that he will be stepping back from some of his regular responsibilities but remains committed to supporting the founders within his firm, SV Angel. He expressed his intention to prioritize treatment while continuing to assist SV Angel founders during critical growth phases, maintaining the firm's established approach.
Conway emphasized that SV Angel will continue its operations without disruption. He highlighted that his son, Topher Conway, has been making the firm's investment decisions for nearly ten years. Furthermore, he noted the addition of another son, Ronny Conway, as a managing partner in 2024. This next generation of leadership brings extensive experience across Silicon Valley's technological evolution and is particularly focused on collaborating with entrepreneurs developing the future of artificial intelligence.
While Conway opted not to disclose the specific type of cancer to prevent speculation, he conveyed an optimistic outlook. He acknowledged the exceptional care he is receiving from his medical team at UCSF in San Francisco and reaffirmed his characteristic tenacity, stating, "as you know, I never back down from a fight."
