Ring's Search Party Now Helps Find Lost Dogs for Everyone

Ring Expands "Search Party" to Aid Lost Pets for All Users

Ring, a name synonymous with home security, is making its innovative AI-powered "Search Party" feature available to all Ring customers in the U.S., regardless of whether they own a Ring camera. This expansion marks a significant step in leveraging community power to reunite lost dogs with their families.

Introduced last fall, Search Party utilizes artificial intelligence to scan footage from nearby outdoor Ring cameras for potential sightings of a lost dog. When a user reports a missing pet through the Ring app, the system can identify and alert camera owners in the vicinity if their cameras have captured a relevant image. These users then have the option to share video clips, send messages, or even initiate a call to the pet owner, all while maintaining their privacy by not revealing personal contact details directly.

Ring reports that Search Party has been instrumental in reuniting more than one lost dog with its owner on a daily basis since its inception. Previously, this powerful tool was exclusive to those who had a Ring camera installed at their home. Now, the company is opening up access, allowing anyone to utilize the Neighbors app to broadcast a lost pet alert and benefit from the community's watchful eyes.

"Now, pet owners can mobilize the whole community, and communities are empowered to help to find lost pets more effectively than ever before," stated Ring founder Jamie Siminoff. "That's why we believe it's so important to make this feature available to anyone who shares a lost dog post in Neighbors."

In conjunction with this feature's broader availability, Amazon-owned Ring is pledging $1 million to equip animal shelters across the U.S. with Ring camera systems, aiming to assist approximately 4,000 shelters. The hope is that by integrating these shelters into Ring's network, more lost dogs will find their way back home.

Ring already collaborates with organizations like Petco Love and Best Friends Animal Society and remains open to forming additional partnerships to further its mission of animal welfare and community safety.
